Electrician
The Electrotechnical Industry falls under Building Services, it"s very diverse and the work involves installing, commissioning and maintaining electrotechnical technology in a variety of buildings and systems. It is a very popular profession as it offers a full career path with excellent prospects. The work can involve advanced data cabling, computer controlled building systems, maintaining street light systems and installing power, lighting, fire and security systems.
Qualifications
At Leeds College of Building we offer a 1 year full-time and an apprenticeship in Electrotechnical. If you take the 1 year option you will then need to move onto an apprenticeship. To become a qualified electrician you have to complete an advanced apprenticeship which is available at the College.

Electricians can earn between £17,000 and £35,000 a year depending on experience.
