Apprenticeships

The Apprenticeship programme was introduced to the UK in 1994 as 'Modern Apprenticeships'.

The Apprenticeship route remains a popular way for young people to study, work and earn. Please note you must be in employment to qualify for an Apprenticeship at Leeds College of Building.

Many school leavers look to secure an apprenticeship ready for when they leave school. The apprentice gains a recognised qualification whilst learning about different aspects of the trade and gaining valuable, on-the-job experience.

The scheme is also popular with employers who send their employees to college on a block or day-release basis, to work towards qualifications. Leeds College of Building has around 600 young people on its apprenticeship programme across a wide variety of trades.
