At the College we also have a number of full-time and part-time Diplomas available in building services, civil engineering and construction. These are ideal if you want to progress into Higher Education. (click here to go to 16-18 section).
Advanced Apprenticeships
You can also study an advanced apprenticeship, where you combine on the job training with time at College – great if you want to earn money, study and work at the same time. We have advanced apprenticeships available in building services, civil engineering, Facilities Management and Surveying Management.
Higher Education
We have a number of courses available for those who have just completed A Levels or equivalent, we have both full-time and part-time opportunities available. Many of our students seek employment when they have completed their A Levels and attend College on a day release basis from their place of work.
Higher National Certificates & Diplomas
HNC’s or HND’s are more vocational than degrees, and are an alternative study route for students who want to get a higher education qualification without studying for a degree.
They are designed to give you the skills to put the knowledge that you learn to use effectively in your chosen career. Employers value them highly and they are recognised by professional bodies. There is an option to convert a HND into a degree by completing a 1 or 2 year top up course.
Foundation Degrees
Foundation Degrees combine work based learning with academic study, they are vocational qualifications and are equivalent to HND’s. They are designed in partnership with colleges, universities and employers to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform well in a particular area of work.
Undergraduate Degree
An undergraduate degree is an academic course which leads to a qualification such as a bachelor of arts (BA) or a bachelor of science (BSc). They usually last 3 to 4 years and are designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the subject you are studying.
Professional Qualifications
Professional qualifications and postgraduate courses enable you to get a qualification that is normally recognised by a professional association or body and the sector that you want to work in. For example the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is the leading body for managers in construction.
