Successful candidates completing their NVQ Level 3 may be interested in C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing and Certification which is required for progression to Approved Electrician status within the JIB Electrotechnical Certification Scheme.
There are not any formal entry requirements however this assessment is normally taken towards the end of an Apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme. Candidates normally hold C&G 2330 Level 2 Electrotechnical Technology and Level 3 or equivalent and are working towards C&G 2356 NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Services and Systems.
The AM2 test covers the following sections which must be completed within the specified timings.
Areas covered include:
- Part A - Composite installation (7 ½ hours)
- Part B - Inspection and testing of the composite installation (3 hours 30 minutes)
- Part C - Fault diagnosis and correction (2 hours)
- Part D - Assessment of applied knowledge (1 hour)
It will be necessary to pass this assessment before the Joint Industry Board grant Electrican status to an individual applying to the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme.
It is also essential for students working towards C&G 2356 NVQ Level 3 Installing and Commissioning Electrotechnical Systems (Buildings and Structures).
All work must be in accordance with the current IEE Wiring Regulations BS7671 and Health & Safety Regulations.
