There are no formal entry requirements however you should be employed within the industry.
This course is aimed at all managers inspecting and testing electrical equipment and covers the recording, interpretation of results and the labelling of equipment.
The course is made up of a one day practical workshop aimed at anyone involved in the inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances and one day of theory.
Areas covered include:
- The law and scope of legislation
- Electrical equipment
- In-service inspection and testing
- Procedures, documentation, user responsibilties, inspection and testing
A 1 ½ hour examination will be taken at the end of the course.
There is an opportunity for candidates to carry out testing of various electrical appliances and you may bring along your own PAT tester if preferred.Candidate should read the following before attending the course: IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical EquipmentExam Success IEE Code of Practice 2377.
Those carrying out the work will need a clear understanding of the BS7671 (IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations) and require proof of competence
