GMI Construction Case Study
A total of 4 of our Level 3 Construction & the Built Environment students have undertaken a work placement at GMI Construction.
Students are assisting in the build of the new 604-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme, which, once built, will be 15 stories at the highest point.
The build will incorporate several fully landscaped three-storey “sky gardens”, and has been designed to provide affordable living, with a strong emphasis on an environment to support students’ mental health and well-being.
Roy Perry, Senior Project Manager at GMI Construction said:
“I have to say that all of the candidates we have had have been a credit to the college, they have been polite, on time, interested, engaged and enthusiastic. Maybe they did listen to my lecture. They are a credit to the college and the staff. I’m sure they will all do well in their search for a position in the industry.”
“We are delighted with how the students conducted themselves on their work placements, two students were invited to apply for an apprenticeship and for the remaining students, they will be able to put the work experience on their CVs, which is very valuable when seeking employment."
