This BTEC Level 3 Civil Engineering course covers the maths and science related to construction, how to carry out site surveys and the design & construction of roads, railways, bridges, buildings & flood control measures.
This is a 16-18 year study programme course, it is for students who are finishing year 11 this year, or for those who have recently left. It is equivalent to 3 A-Levels.
In the first year you will study the BTEC Level 3 in Construction & the Built Environment, and in the second year you will complete modules in Civil Engineering.
Civil Engineers are responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of the built environment, including projects such as bridges, roads, railways, airports, canals, dams and power stations. Civil Engineers can either be consulting engineers who advise on projects and design them or contractors who construct the structures.
Our study programmes include a vocational course, English and maths, work experience and employability skills.
Students also have the opportunity to take part in sport and enrichment activities alongside their course.
You can easily transfer from a study programme onto a civil engineering apprenticeship course if you secure employment in the civil engineering industry.

No matter what level you are currently working at, you will continue learning English and maths throughout your course.
This qualification requires 4 GCSEs, including English, Maths and Science at grade 4 or above, plus one other subject at grade 4 and above.

After completing this course there are a number of options available for you; depending on your final grade you could move onto a higher education course including a HNC in Civil Engineering, a HND in Civil Engineering, a Higher Apprenticeship or progress to university.
