What does the course cover?

  • The IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) are the definitive standards for the electrical industry in respect of safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems.

  • Selection and erection of wiring systems
  • New Appendix to 18th Edition on Energy efficiency

Entry requirements

The student must have prior knowledge or be an experienced electrician with existing and specific qualifications in electrical work (16th or 17th Electrical Edition qualification completed previously).

Alternatively, the student could be apprentice trained, now working in the industry and wishing to gain this certificate to progress in the workplace.

This qualification is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of IET Wiring Regulations.

It is also suitable for anyone wishing to demonstrate an understanding of the IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations needing to upskill.

Electricians who have taken time out of the industry and are looking to return, it is possible they have previously held the 16th Edition certification. This course will benefit them as they can update their knowledge to the current 18th Edition industry standard.
