Leeds College of Building are actively involved with international partners to offer both educational and cultural experiences for our students to complement their studies.
The projects offer an opportunity to explore new technologies, construction techniques and materials and aim to further inform career choice.
The projects have been invaluable in providing the students with the confidence to participate in activities in other countries and to share their experiences of studying and working in construction within different cultures, languages and climates.
Berufskolleg Ost der Stadt partnership with Leeds College of Building
Traditional House Project
Leeds College of Buildings have celebrated a 22 year partnership with Berufskolleg Ost der Stadt Essen – Germany. The colleges have been involved in a wide range of exchange projects ranging from Sign making, Painting & Decorating, Joinery, Land Surveying and Architectural Design. These have been funded by the British Council Comenius programme. Our most recent project involved designing a 'Traditional European House' using new technologies and modern methods of construction from both countries.
The project has allowed 20 students from Leeds College of Building, over two years, to visit Essen for a 10 day visit to our partner college. The students have participated in workshop and classroom activities, visits to sites and industry whilst enjoying cultural and social visits in the surrounding areas. This has allowed the students to gain an insight into different cultures and working practices whilst supporting them in their studies to make an informed career choice.
