We are working hard to keep staff and students at the College as safe as possible. You may have heard that testing for those without coronavirus symptoms is beginning across the country using new, quicker COVID-19 tests known as ‘lateral flow tests’.

The College has set up two testing sites, one at North Street and one at South Bank so that staff, students and those who work on campus can get tested. The tests are voluntary, however, we will be encouraging staff and students to take part. Anyone who takes the test will be supervised by trained staff, and the results will be provided within 30 minutes of testing.

An individual cannot be tested without giving consent, so if you are willing to participate in the lateral flow testing you will need to complete a consent form. Please note that consent can be withdrawn at any point.

Letter to parents

The current Department for Education guidelines state that students over 16 years of age can provide informed consent. Students can therefore complete a consent form to participate in the testing themselves. However, they must first discuss participation with their parent/carer if they are under the age of 18. We would therefore encourage all parents/carers to discuss the option of participating in the testing process with their child and would welcome your support in this programme.
