The Apprenticeship Levy
Posted on Wed 15th Mar, 2017
With the launch date for the apprenticeship levy fast approaching do you feel well informed about the changes and how it could affect your business?
Over the next decade the UK needs millions of new technical and professional skilled workers; the government has identified apprenticeships as key to this and have set a target of 3 million new apprenticeship starts by 2020.
To help the government meet their target an apprenticeship levy will be introduced in April 2017 which will affect the way that employers pay for apprenticeships. It requires all employers operating in the UK, with a wage bill over £3 million each year, to invest in apprenticeships.
There are also planned changes to the types of training that will be available, with apprenticeship frameworks being phased out and replaced with apprenticeship standards with an end assessment.
We understand that the changes may seem a little daunting and have produced some simple guides to explain the changes that are taking place.
The Apprenticeship Team at Leeds College of Building are here to help.
