Course overview

The BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment course aims to provide an understanding of the construction industry. This includes construction technology, scientific and mathematical applications for construction, construction and design, construction processes and operations, construction drawing techniques and exploring carpentry and joinery principles and techniques. 

Our study programmes include a vocational qualification, English and maths, work experience and employability skills.

Students also have the opportunity to take part in sport and enrichment activities.

You can easily transfer from a study programme onto an apprenticeship if you secure employment in the industry.

Course content

On this Construction and the Built Environment BTEC course, you will study:

  • The underpinning mathematics and science related to construction
  • The design of construction and how to communicate your design in drawings and specifications
  • Specialist skills related to construction to suit your chosen career path

No matter what level you are currently working at, you will continue learning English and maths throughout your course. 


Entry requirements

All applicants will attend an information day and then be invited to attend an interview. You will need 2 GCSEs at grade A*-C (9-4).


What can I do after this course?

After completing this course there are a number of options available; depending on your final grade you could move onto a level 3 course, a higher education course including a HNC/HND, higher apprenticeship or a degree at university, or you could seek employment.
