Course overview

This construction course will enable you to progress your career into areas such construction and design, maths and science within construction, construction drawing, sustainability within construction and construction technology or into a craft pathway such as electrical, plumbing, joinery and bricklaying.

Our study programmes include a vocational qualification, English and maths, work experience and employability skills.

Students also have the opportunity to take part in sport and enrichment activities.

You can easily transfer from a study programme onto an apprenticeship if you secure employment in the industry.

Course content

On this Construction Level 1 Course you will study and learn new skills such as:

  • Drawing a plan of a room
  • Building a wall
  • Costing a small repair job
  • Making carpentry joints
  • Developing a personal progression plan
  • Researching a topic
  • Fixing a water pipe.

No matter what level you are currently working at, you will continue learning English and maths throughout your course. 


Entry requirements

The course level you will be enrolled on will be dependent on your GCSE results. This will be discussed at your interview. Your interview will be confirmed after your application has been processed. 


What can I do after this course?

After completing this course there are a number of options available; depending on your final grade you could move onto an apprenticeship, a level 2 or level 3 certificate/diploma or seek employment.
