What will I learn at College?

This course is a necessary requirement of the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS), and is required by anyone working on domestic gas installations and appliances.

Course content typically includes:

  • Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation (initial training only)
  • Combustion, relevant pressures and gas rates
  • Gas pipe work
  • Tightness testing and purging, including low and medium pressure
  • Chimney systems, recognition and testing
  • Ventilation
  • Gas controls
  • Flue gas analysis

It can be completed as a stand-alone course or in combination with up to 4 appliances.


Entry requirements

Applicants must have recently completed the BPEC Gas Foundation Course or be experienced category 1 gas fitting operatives who hold ACS, ACoPs, S/NVQ or City & Guilds Gas Qualifications.
