Course details

Essential Customer Service & Employability Training for Construction is an accredited course at Level 2, which is broken down into two parts as follows:

Accredited Unit – part 1: Includes learning and understanding the essential principles of good customer service needed to work in a construction environment.  The unit will also cover how to meet customer expectations, appropriate behaviours in a workplace and different methods of communicating effectively, as well as how to deal with difficult customers and managing conflict effectively.

Non-Accredited – part 2: How to create a professional CV for a customer facing role, where and how to search and apply for construction specific jobs using online methods.  Top tips and techniques to ensure successful interviews and gaining employment.

Skills and knowledge learnt throughout the course will assist candidates to progress into employment or further customer service qualifications.

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications are needed to enrol onto this course. The course is specifically for those who may already have some customer service skills or wish to obtain a formal qualification in this area.

The course is also for those wishing to enter the construction industry as a career change or wanting to gain a new job role within this sector.  All learners are required to fully commitment to attending both days of the course and complete the programme.

Jayne Anderson, Willmott Dixon employee says, “When we are recruiting for these roles, we look for people who are patient and task oriented.”

If this is you, why not look to develop these transferable skills into the construction sector; a key growth area of our region.

Impact on learners

Upon completion of the course the learners will be able to work in a Customer Service role within the Construction industry or any other sector where good customer service is a key part of the role.

Learners will also learn about up-to-date employability skills to help them gain further employment, if faced with redundancy due to COVID-19 in a previous role.
