What's it all about?

This course is ideal for those looking to move into the plumbing industry, either as a plumber or a role within the wider building services sector.

It will provide you with the skills that you need for basic plumbing installations or to help you progress onto further study.

Areas of the course covered include:

  • Health and safety in building services engineering
  • Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
  • Common plumbing processes
  • Cold water systems
  • Domestic hot water systems
  • Sanitation
  • Bathroom installation (bath, basin, WC, radiators/boiler pipework and airing cupboard) 

Please note this course will not enable you to become a fully qualified plumber. 

Study Options

Evening Route

This course is available as evening study if you have completed the evening only Plumbing Level 1 Award & Certificate at Leeds College of Building. *If you meet the above criteria the price is reduced to £366.

Day Route

You can enrol on the day course if you already have a Level 1 Certificate or you score highly on the entrance test.


If you have successfully completed the Plumbing Level 1 Award & Certificate at this College you will be able to progress on to this course.

If you have studied a Plumbing course at another provider we will need to see your qualifications before deciding what level you can start on, you may also be required to sit a maths and English assessment. You can call the Course Team or attend to find out more 0113 222 6061

All other candidates will need to sit the entrance assessment.

As the College is currently closed, BKSB skills assessments will need to be taken remotely.

Please complete the application form and a member of team will contact you with details on how you can take the assessment.

Please ensure you abide by the rules on taking the assessment, when your course starts, your English and Maths skills will be assessed again, to ensure you are on the correct course for the level you are at.
