Course overview

This Building Surveying Apprenticeship is available to anyone aged over 16.

Building surveyors offer professional advice on all factors affecting existing buildings such as building defects, alterations, renovations and extensions.

They work mostly on site to monitor the performance of structures and come up with ways to improve them or correct flaws in their design.


What skills and qualities do apprentices need?

Good observational skills, good organisational skills, a careful, methodical and accurate approach to your work.


Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade A*-C (9-4) including English, maths and science.

All applicants will be required to pass an assessment and be aged 16 or over, already be employed or have secured a work placement.

If you are aged 16-18 and unable to find an apprenticeship, you can apply for a study programme and switch over at any point when you do find one.

No matter what level you are currently working at, you will be expected to further your skills in English and maths.


Next steps

After completing this course there are a number of options available; depending on your final grade you could move onto a higher education course including a HNC/HND, higher apprenticeship or a degree at university, or you could seek employment.
