Higher & Degree Apprenticeships

Our higher and degree apprenticeships combine college study with workplace learning. They offer a different route into professions which are traditionally filled by graduates.

Leeds College of Building was one of the first colleges in the UK to deliver higher apprenticeships in construction and the built environment. We work alongside employers and industry bodies to ensure each apprenticeship provides the skills required by the industry.

Apprentices who are enrolled on a higher apprenticeship divide their time between their place of work and studying at college one day a week or on block release.

At Leeds College of Building our higher apprenticeships can lead to a career in a variety of disciplines, including: building services engineering, civil engineering, construction management, facilities management, maintenance, planning and surveying.

Our degree apprenticeships are currently in development and are planned to launch in September 2018.

The higher education team have created a useful guide on apprenticeships, which includes information on the levy for employers and the frameworks and standards that are available.
