Shopfitter

Become a Shopfitter

Shopfitters make and install the fixtures and fittings in everything from offices and restaurants to shops and bars. They also build and refurbish shop fronts and doorways. They work closely with other tradespeople such as tilers, electricians and plumbers.

  • The ability to follow technical drawings, plans and written or spoken instructions
  • Draughting and IT skills
Qualifications

Shopfitting is offered as an apprenticeship at Leeds College of Building. You will combine working on site with time in college. Good GCSEs are recommended for calculations and measurements. At Leeds College of Building entry is via an assessment.

Salary

Starting salaries can range from £13,500 to £16,000 a year.

Experienced shopfitters can earn between £17,000 and £22,000 a year.

With supervisory responsibilities this could rise to around £30,000 a year.
