Course overview

This Level 4 course is designed to prepare students for a professional design career in the built environment, and offers progression to a Degree Apprenticeship in Design and Construction Management. The course combines core industry knowledge with practical and digital skills essential for modern construction projects.

Students will explore the design and construction process from conception through to completion, gaining insights into the roles and responsibilities of the construction designer. A strong emphasis is placed on the use of digital tools, including Building Information Modelling (BIM), to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and compliance in project delivery.

In addition to technical and design skills, students will develop a solid understanding of legal frameworks, health and safety regulations, and financial principles relevant to construction design and management. The course encourages critical thinking, ethical awareness, and real-world problem-solving, enabling learners to make informed decisions in fast-paced construction environments.
