Adult & Short Courses
The first step is to find a course that’s right for you. Our course finder is a great place to start and you can change the filters depending on if you want something hands on or something more creative.
Our application forms are easily found on the course page.Â
Remember, if you’re applying for an apprenticeship, you need to have an employer who is looking to take you on as an apprentice first before applying to college.
Once you’ve applied, you’ll hear from us within 3-4 weeks of applying. If you’re applying for a full time course, we recommend applying as soon as possible as many of our courses fill up within the first few months of the application form going live.
Some of our full time courses and apprenticeships require an interview, you’ll be contacted by us to arrange it during this time.
If you’ve met the entry criteria for a full time course and there are places available, you’ll be sent an offer email. This email outlines the next steps and notifies you when enrolment week is.
All offer holders will be invited to a Welcome Day which is a mandatory part of the application process. Here you’ll get a taste of what college life is like, you’ll meet tutors and have a tour of our facilities.
Next step is GCSE results day. We’ll message you asking for your results. It’s crucial you send these to us before enrolment day to speed up the process.
The final part of the application process is our enrolment events. Enrolment week takes place in the last week in August and you’ll be sent an email with the time and date your course will be enrolling. Our Enrolment event can take around 3 hours and it’s an opportunity for you to meet the wider college teams, apply for bursary support, sign up for enrichment activities and get your timetable.Â
You’ll also be asked to take a Maths and English assessment. These assessments are so we understand which parts of the subject you may need some extra support with.
Our apprenticeships require you to have an employer who has agreed to hire you as an apprentice prior to applying. Your employer will need to have set up an account with the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) and have a PAYE number set up. This can take up to 2 months to arrange so it’s crucial it’s set up as soon as possible. We’re unable to progress with your application until this is in place.
After we’ve received your application, we’ll set both yourself and your employer up on a program called E-sign up. This is where all paperwork will be signed.
There is quite a bit of information we need to collect and a few forms that both yourself and your employer need to sign. This process can take quite some time so there may be weeks where you don’t hear from us whilst we process this information.
During this time, you’ll also be invited to complete and Maths and English assessment. This is a mandatory part of the process so we can assess where we can support you.
Once all paperwork has been completed, you and your employer will be invited in to college to run through the apprenticeship program and check all information is correct. Once that’s completed you can be enrolled onto the apprenticeship and you’ll receive you’re timetable and enrolment information shortly afterwards.
Applications are all made through the course page on our website. Shortly after applying for the course you’ll be contacted by our curriculum team who will discuss the dates the next course will run and if there is a fee for the course, you’ll be given information on how to pay.
