This City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations course is suitable for adults over the age of 19 who have no previous experience or knowledge and are considering a career in the electrical industry as a qualified electrician; in commercial, industrial and domestic electrics.

The course will cover a wide range of electrical installation skills. It will provide you with basic skills in electrical installations, however you will not be a qualified electrician when the course is completed.

Evening Route

This course is available as evening study if you have completed the evening only Electrical Level 1 Award & Certificate at Leeds College of Building.  *Evening route only – if studied the evening award & evening certificate at Leeds College of Building you can progress onto this at a reduced rate of £420.

Entry requirements

What skills and qualities do I need?

A good understanding of maths, calculations and physics, a careful, methodical and accurate approach to your work, the ability to follow written information and instructions.

You will also need practical skills, the ability to follow technical drawings, building plans and wiring diagrams, ability to work methodically and be organised and able to problem solve.

This course will offer you both practical and theoretical insights into Electrical Installations (Building & Structures).

The course covers the following areas:

  • basic safety measures
  • principles in electrical science
  • electrical installation technology
  • installation of wiring systems
  • electrical science through practical and theoretical insights

Upon successful completion of the course you could progress on to the Level 3 Diploma. If you get a Level 3 Diploma you could also go for an NVQ and an AM2 Assessment to become a qualified electrician.
