Life at LCB

LCB does look a little different to what you're used to. Find out everything you need to know before you start.

A typical day

College is open to students on weekdays from 9am until 4pm. If you’re a full time student, a typical timetable is 3-4 days a week. For an apprentice, you may come to college either one day a week, or for a block week at a time.

Our timetables are designed so you have the opportunity to gain some experience to build your CV at the same time as getting a qualification. Whether that’s getting a part-time job, taking a placement opportunity or taking part in enrichment activities.

Term dates

We try to follow the Leeds schools academic calendar. Most courses start the second week in September and run through to July.

Travelling to college

Both of our campuses are located on the outskirts of Leeds city centre.

We recommend travelling to LCB by public transport. Both the train station and the bus station are a short walk (between 10-20 minutes) from either campus.

If you would like to visit us by car, there are on-street pay and display car parking options available in the surrounding streets.

When using a sat nav, for North Street use LS2 7QT and for South Bank use LS10 1HD

Employability

Our aim is to get you ready for an affluent career within construction. We pride ourselves in our employability package which is available to everyone at LCB. Whether it’s looking for an apprenticeship at our job fairs, networking with employers, learning skills such as CV writing and interview skills or choosing to take part in a placement with one of our employer partners. There are numerous ways you can get work-ready before you leave us.

Maths and English

Don’t let your grades stop you pursuing the career of your dreams; if you haven’t secured the maths or English qualifications you need, we can help you level up as part of your study.

We approach maths and English GCSEs slightly differently. We try to focus on what you don’t know rather than go back over what you do. Wherever possible, we relate your learning back to the construction industry. Bringing your learning to life.
