What is CTEC?

CTEC stands for ‘construction technical excellence colleges’, and is a government initiative created to address the growing demand for skilled construction professionals across the UK.

With a £100 million investment, the programme will train 40,000 people by 2029 in high-demand trades such as bricklaying, carpentry, roofing and electrical work.

CTEC aims to break down barriers to opportunity, supporting both young people at their start of their construction careers as well as established workers who want to gain new skills.

“We are thrilled to be appointed as one of the first ever CTECs in the country, reflecting our reputation as one of the nation’s leading construction training providers."

How CTEC Can Benefit You

Whether you’re looking to learn, employ or teach, our status as a CTEC college gives you the advantage.

Learners

At LCB you’ll have the opportunity to get all the qualifications, hands-on training and work experience you need. Split across two campuses, we are bursting at the seams with state-of-the-art teaching facilities fully equipped with all the latest tools and technology.

Employers

Here we work with our construction partners to help shape our curriculum so that our training reflects the skills your workforce needs. Use us to host industry placements, support apprenticeships, and provide training demos that give our learners hands-on experience.

Educators

CTEC is all about collaboration so we will work with fellow training providers to maximise our impact across regional and national networks. The more providers we work with the better the knowledge-sharing resources we produce will be.

Building a Stronger pipeline between industry and education

We hosted a roundtable which explored how colleges, employers, and government can best work together to build the workforce needed for future growth. As the construction industry continues to face skills shortages, stronger collaboration and a two-way flow between education and industry is more important than ever.

Leeds Learning Alliance

Formed in 2019, the LLA is a collective of organisations that is dedicated to reducing education inequality across the various communities of Leeds.

Their efforts to make widespread improvements to the state of education in the UK aligns with the ultimate goals of the CTEC accreditation.

This is reflected in their annual report which not only showcases the LLA’s achievements, but their future priorities to connect inclusive leaders from across the country to better share and develop professional learning.
