Civil Engineering Technicians are the technical brains behind many building sites, providing support to civil engineers in the design, construction and management of a variety of projects. Civil engineering technicians use advanced science to solve many of the problems they encounter, finding clever ways to tackle challenges such as how to reduce pollution or protect structures from wild weather.

Qualifications
There are a number of ways you can become a Civil Engineering Technician, as a minimum you will need 4 or more GCSEs grades A-C (9-4) and a minimum of 2 A Levels or BTEC equivalent.
Level 3
You can study a BTEC Subsidiary or Extended Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment or Civil Engineering; or an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering.
Level 4, 5 & 6
You can study a HNC, HND, Higher Apprenticeship or Degree in Construction and the Built Environment, Civil Engineering or other related subjects.
These qualifications can give you the academic base to become professionally qualified as an engineer or engineering technician with letters after your name.
Salary
Newly qualified technicians can earn £17,000 – £19,000
Qualified technicians with some experience can earn £25,000 – £35,000
Senior technicians can earn £37,000 to £50,000.
Salaries typically depend on location, employer and level of responsibility.
