This course is ideal for students who are interested in plumbing and electrical, but are unsure which route is best.
On the course, you will learn basic elements of plumbing and electrical installations, which will help you decide which career you would like to pursue.
Our study programmes include a vocational course, English and maths, work experience and employability skills.
Students also have the opportunity to take part in sport and enrichment activities alongside their course.
Entry requirements
The Level 1 Certificate requires 5 GCSEs, including English and maths at grade 3, and 3 other subjects with an average grade 3.

Course content
On this plumbing & electrical course you will study:
- How to install cables and equipment including sockets and switches for electrical installations.
- How to test and commission electrical installations to ensure they work and meet the health and safety requirements.
- How to cut, bend and solder copper pipe ready for installation.
- How to cut and join plastic pipe ready for installation.
- How to prepare the workplace/site ready for work to be carried out.
- The health and safety legislation relating to the installation and maintenance of electrical and plumbing systems.
No matter what level you are currently working at, you will continue learning English and maths throughout your course.

After completing this course, a number of options are available.
Depending on your final grade, you could progress to the Level 2 Plumbing Diploma, followed by a Level 3 Electrical Diploma, or pursue an apprenticeship.
