Course overview

This apprenticeship, which leads to a BSc (Hons) in Building Services Engineering, is designed for individuals working in the Building Services Industry, equipping students with the core knowledge and practical skills needed to contribute effectively to the sustainable design of commercial buildings.

Through a focused curriculum, students will develop an understanding of key principles of Electrical design, Advances Maths, and Thermofluids. These essential topics are delivered in a practical context, preparing learners to support the fundamental understanding and theories of sustainable design and business management in Building Services.

Graduates will be well-positioned to take on Senior engineering roles in the industry while continuing their professional development.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • An appropriate Level 4 HNC/HTQ or apprenticeship
  • GCSE English (grade 5+)
  • GCSE Maths (grade 5+)

  • Refrigeration & Air Con
  • Integrated Building Design
  • Project & Business Management

Year 3

  • Heat & Mass Transfer
  • Thermal Energy Systems

Year 4

  • Design Project

In addition to this the apprentice will receive (non-credit bearing) support in the following areas:

  • Work-based learning module – supporting both apprentice and employer in the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours are gained and demonstrated.
  • Strengthen the apprentice’s ability to work in a team in a collaborative manner.
  • The confidence to present ideas and problem solving to a group of professionals.

Completion of this apprenticeship may lead to career and pay progression. Completing this course will also give you the opportunity to apply for Professional Membership with CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers).
