Course Overview

The following qualification will be undertaken

  • Level 6 Batchelor of Science (BSc) Construction Site Management
  • Site Management Supervisor Training Scheme
  • Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme

The candidate will complete a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates that each of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours in the Standard, have been met.

This online portfolio of evidence will be submitted to CIOB for use during the professional discussion.

Completion of the apprenticeship standard will be confirmed following the satisfactory conclusion of an End Point Assessment (EPA). 


What Would Apprentices Learn at College?

The Construction Site Management Degree Apprenticeship spans three years, with each year divided into two semesters, covering various aspects of the field.

Year 1:

Semester 1: Focuses on the basics of construction contract law and production management.
Semester 2: Covers organisational management and the fundamentals of measurement and documentation in construction.

Year 2:

Semester 1: Addresses contract administration (excluding quantity surveying) and the processes of estimating and tendering.
Semester 2: Delves into construction planning and introduces project management principles.

Year 3:

Semester 1: Explores sustainable construction practices and includes a research project.
Semester 2: Emphasises practical project management and covers corporate management and finance within the construction industry.

 

In addition to this the apprentice will receive (non-credit bearing) support in the following areas:

  • Work-based learning module – supporting both apprentice and employer in the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours are gained and demonstrated.
  • Strengthen the apprentices ability to work in a team in a collaborative manner.
  • The confidence to present ideas and problem solving to a group of professionals.

End Point Assessment Organisation & Details

EPAO is Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Entry Requirements

Typically, an apprentice will be expected to have completed:

  • L4 apprenticeship in Construction Site Supervisor (ST0048)

OR

  • HNC in Construction and The Built Environment

AND

  • Maths Level 2
  • English Level 2

Skills Required

Construction Site Managers are involved with the overall management of the project taking particular notice to programme, construction methods and risk. The main duties and tasks of a Construction Site Manager are:

  • To ensure that safe systems of work are in place on their site and that all staff and operatives on site adhere to those systems and safe standards of behaviour
  • To manage productivity on site so that the project is completed on time
  • To manage the activity on site in a way that adheres to contract and cost constraints
  • To ensure that the site has minimal impact on the environment and local community
  • To manage interfaces between the various stakeholders associated with the site
  • To ensure that the project is completed to the specification and quality demanded by the client
