More than 30 Leeds College of Building (LCB) Degree Apprentices celebrated their graduation at an event held at The Royal Armouries Museum.
The ceremony marked the second time LCBU (also known as the University Centre) have hosted their own event in Leeds City Centre.
Last year saw our apprentices graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Commercial Management which is delivered in partnership with London South Bank University.
This year, our Commercial Management graduates were joined by their peers from our Civil Engineering Site Management BSc (Hons) course – delivered in partnership with Leeds Beckett University.
The ceremony opened with a speech delivered by LCB Assistant Principal Chris Tunningley before our graduates were awarded their certificates.

After taking their official graduation photos on stage, our students once again took their seats to listen to the closing speeches.
Richard Leese, Higher Education Curriculum Manager, said:
“On a personal level, one of the greatest privileges of my role is seeing the change in students from when they first arrive to when they eventually reach a day like today.
“We all know how much qualifications matter in our industry – for us to record so many first and second-class honours is simply outstanding.
“I hope all of our students know just how incredibly proud we are of them.”

A drinks reception followed the conclusion of the ceremony where our graduates posed for pictures with their assembled family and friends.
Civil Engineering Site Management graduate Cal Corbett, who served his apprenticeship at EKFB and our long-term partners BAM, said:
“I want to say a massive thank you to all the staff at LCBU for their incredible support and dedication in helping me achieve a first-class honours degree.
“This is a proud moment for me and a great way to mark all the hard work over the last few years– I’m so excited for my next chapter!”
LCBU teaching staff mingled with graduates giving out final hugs and words of advice until it was time to continue the party elsewhere.

Nikki Carthy, Construction Management Curriculum Manager, said:
“What our students have accomplished during their time with us is nothing short of remarkable.
“Degree apprenticeships are not easy – our students have had to juggle working long hours, studying, and often homelife responsibilities.
“They’ve discovered that the most meaningful lessons don’t always come from textbooks, but from experience.
“On behalf of myself and everyone at LCBU I want to congratulate everyone on everything they’ve achieved so far – you are a huge part of our LCBU story, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of yours.”
As always, we’d like to extend our sincere thanks to our university partners London South Bank University and Leeds Beckett University for their continued collaboration and commitment to the successful delivery of our degree apprenticeship programmes.
