The Electrical Level 1 Award & Level 1 Certificate in Construction Skills (Electrical Pathway) have now been combined into a 1 year evening course.
This electrical course is ideal for those who want to pursue a career as an electrician.
Electrician’s fit, test and repair electrical installations found in homes and businesses. This could include, fitting consumer units and circuit breakers, connecting wires to sockets, switches and light fittings and installing fire alarms.
This course provides the foundation for the Level 2 Diploma which is completed in year 2.
This course is ideal for those looking to move into the electrical industry.
There are no specific entry requirements however candidates will need to complete and pass a basic skills assessment.
You will need a good understanding of maths.
A good understanding of maths, calculations and physics, a careful, methodical and accurate approach to your work, the ability to follow written information and instructions.
The Electrical Level 1 Award (Construction Skills) course is designed as a basic insight into working in the electrical industry, it will give you the basic hand skills necessary to carry out small electrical tasks.
At the end of the course you will have learnt basic electrical processes and operations, including:
On successful completion of the Level 1 Award you will then progress towards completing the Level 1 Certificate in Electrical. The Level 1 certificate will give you a basic understanding of working safely and competently within an electrical environment. During the course you will have the opportunity to use a variety of tools, learn different techniques and theory and lay a solid foundation for the next step in becoming an electrician.
If you successfully pass this course you can move onto the Electrical Level 2 Diploma.
This Installation / Maintenance Electrician Advanced Apprenticeship is available to anyone aged over 16. Electricians fit, test and repair electrical installations found in homes and businesses.
This is a 16-18 year old plumbing and electrical study programme course, it is for students who are finishing year 11 this year, or for those who have recently left.
