This is an intensive 90 hour Edexcel GCSE in Mathematics course for adults. Students will develop maths skills which are fit for the modern world.
The course will follow 6 key content headings, these will include:
• Number
• Algebra
• Ratio, proportion and rates of change
• Geometry and measures
• Probability
• Statistics
Students will be supported throughout the course by their lecturer, however it is really important that students are committed to achieving the qualification by regular attendance and completion of mock exams and assessments.
While studying students will be expected to attend weekly 3 hour lessons and complete an additional 4 hours of weekly self-study learning through homework and online resources.
Your existing maths skills will be assessed prior to the course starting to ensure this course is suitable.
You will be required to complete an online initial assessment and a written baseline assessment.
Throughout the course you will be required to demonstrate excellent attendance.
You will be assessed by three externally set examinations at the end of May and beginning of June.
In addition you will be internally assessed every 5 weeks through in class controlled assessments with your teacher to monitor your progress.
Feedback and actions will be provided after each assessment, with online resources available to further develop your weaker skills.
Please note that courses run subject to minimum viable class sizes. The next course starts in September 2020 and runs for 30 weeks.
The course is free however there may be additional costs for books, materials or other expenses.
