Course overview
The SMSTS course if one of the courses that make up the Site Safety Plus programme. The SMSTS is specifically for anyone who has or is likely to have management responsibilities. The course content covers legislation that can affect safe working in the industry. The course is endorsed by Build UK and is the standard training requirement for all construction managers. The training will ensure that learners understand how and why duties are carried out in accordance with health and safety rules and regulations, and how this contributes to safety in the workplace for all concerned.
What will students learn?
The SMSTS course will provide learners with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues on construction sites. The programme consists of the four modules below:
- Implementing health and safety legislation
- Management and supervisory responsibilities
- Site briefing
- Site layout

This course is for you if you’re considering, or already have, management responsibilities in construction.

Completing a SMSTS course opens up many possibilities for you to pursue a career in site management, as well as carrying out a management role with up-to-date information regarding Health and safety law, welfare and training.
