With so many options available, it’s important for our students that they can access career support at college, at home and in the workplace. We encourage a collaborative approach to support our students with their future career planning so they have guidance from different influences in their life.

Parents & Carers

As a parent/carer, there are several things you can do to help your child’s future. The main thing is to listen and research options together. Just by encouraging them to talk about their ideas and future career path can help them understand their options and next steps, or even understand where they may need extra support. We encourage all our parents/carers to attend Open Events and Parents' Evenings so you have the opportunity to speak to our Partnerships & Skills team who support the students with Careers and Employability advice.

Employers

Leeds College of Building work closely with all stakeholders to maximise opportunity for students to enhance a wide range of skills outside of their chosen courses.

Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Employer visits to college
  • Mock interviews
  • Employer CV reviews and enhancement
  • Site visits
  • Work Placement
  • Community Projects involving our students
  • Residential trips
  • Visits to suppliers manufacturing sites

As a college we look to include all employers in planned events such as Open Days and Careers Fairs. This allows our students to meet and discuss a variety of areas of employability, question employers to gain information and insight into the construction industry and provide direct access to potential vacancies. At the same time, we provide employers with the opportunity to meet and select students for any vacancies they may have.
