What's it all about?

The COCATA1 module is normally undertaken as part of a Domestic to Commercial Catering Changeover Course.

What would I learn at college?

COCATA1 includes the following:

  • COMCAT1 – Boilers burners, open/solid top ranges, hotplates and Bain Maries
  • COMCAT3 – Deep fat and pressure fryers, griddles and grills

The course tests the gas safety competence of engineers wishing to extend their work range from domestic Natural Gas appliances to Natural Gas catering appliances.

This assessment covers dedicated catering establishments and food technology areas in educational establishments

COCATA1 training will often be done as part of a package.

Entry Requirements

Core Generic Parts A and B + CoDC1 + CCN1 with domestic appliances e.g. CKR1, CENWAT

Or

CCLP1 with domestic appliances e.g. CKR1, CENWAT or QCF or S/NVQ with changeover.

Proof of existing Gas Safe Registration for Reassessment, or 12 months registration with the Gas Safe Register. You must hold a valid commercial catering changeover qualification for COCATA1.
