Entry requirements

This qualification is designed for experienced workers, it is not entry level. It is desirable that candidates will have significant experience in this sector.

This qualification is not approved for learners under the age of 16.

Level 2 is ideal if you are working, or looking to work, as a refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump system engineer and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised.

You need this qualification as a licence to practise with fluorinated gases and ozone-depleting substances.

The aim of these qualifications is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to work on the installation, service, maintenance, recovery and leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment that contains refrigerants classified as either fluorinated (F) gases or ozone depleting substances (ODS).
