Course Details

The Level 3 NVQ in Bricklaying course is suitable for employed individuals who have already achieved Level 2 NVQ in Bricklaying and are able to demonstrate that they are working at a Level 3 standard.

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations qualification has been developed for delivery in a working environment; this means you need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge, and competence so that you can work as a bricklayer within the construction industry or progress onto further learning opening up doors for other opportunities. This qualification supports the Learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge. Students will attend college to develop their knowledge with a range of blended learning, team building group activities and lectures in the classroom environment.

Entry Requirements

The course is best suited for those who have a Level 2 qualification and want to achieve a Level 3 qualification to progress in the construction industry. The course is fully funded for eligible individuals who are aged 19-23 years, UK residents who have lived in the country for the past 3 years, or those who have the right to work and study in the UK. Course criteria includes individuals who already hold a Level 2 qualification in Bricklaying, and those without their 1st Level 3 qualification. Learners over 24 years of age, can also be funded via the Adult Education Budget.


Learning Methods

The course will follow the On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) Model.

There are three elements to this course:

  • Building a portfolio of evidence
  • On-site observations of the candidate
  • Classroom sessions for group and one to one support
