This course is aimed at those aged 19+ who are interested in a career in the plastering industry or who simply want to gain some skills in this area. The course covers the following units:
Level 1 Diploma
Carry out safe working practices in construction
Information, quantities and communicating with others
Building methods and construction technology
Prepare background surfaces and plastering materials
Apply plaster materials to internal backgrounds
Produce components from moulds
Prepare for the fix and set plasterboard and cast from moulds
Level 2 Diploma
Carry out safe working practices in construction
Information, quantities and communicating with others
Building methods and construction technology
Apply plaster materials to external surfaces
Fix dry lining and plasterboard products to interiors
Produce plaster components
Form sand and cement screeds
Produce plaster components
Apply plaster materials to internal surfaces
Position and secure fibrous plaster components
Prepare for and apply internal and external finishings and lay floor screed
Produce and fix fibrous work
Next steps
After completing the Level 1 course there are a number of options available, depending on your final grade you could move onto an apprenticeship, a Level 2 Diploma or seek employment.

This is a Skill Start course.
The 9 week day time course will give you an introduction into your chosen trade area. After this you will have the option to progress onto a longer programme studying towards a Level 1 Diploma.
Level 1 Award & Certificate – no entry requirements, length of course is 9 weeks
Level Diploma – no entry requirements, length of course is 17 weeks (if you have completed the award) or 23 weeks
Due to changes in the way Adult Education is funded, from August 2021 onwards we only accept students who live within the West Yorkshire Combined Authority area or areas not covered by another Combined Authority.
