Course Overview
The Plumbing Level 1 Award and Level 1 Certificate in Construction Skills (Plumbing Pathway) have now been combined into a 1 year evening course.
This plumbing course is ideal for those who want to pursue a career as an plumber.
Plumbers have a highly varied role, it can include installing, servicing and repairing sanitation, heating and hot and cold water systems in buildings. You will fit pipework to baths, showers, toilets, radiators and central heating boilers. You will carry out installations of central heating and sanitary systems.
Course content
This Plumbing Level 1 Award is designed as a basic insight into plumbing, it will give you the basic hand skills necessary to carry out small plumbing tasks.
At the end of the Award you will have learnt basic plumbing processes and operations, including:
- Health and safety within the industry
- Hand tools operations
- Forming capillary joints
- Forming compression joints
- Bending copper pipe
During the Plumbing Level 1 Certificate you will learn:
- How to install a cloakroom suite
- Basic maintenance techniques
- Work with Low carbon steel fittings
- Use plastic pressure pipe fittings
- How to remove a radiator and refit it
- Rules and regulations covering plumbing
Course length
Award: 7 weeks (day) or 15 weeks (evening)
Certificate: 1 year

Next Steps
This course provides the foundation for the Plumbing Studies Level 2 Technical Diploma which can be progressed onto in year 2.
