Leeds College of Building is, once again, taking part in Leeds Pride (Sunday 4 August 2019), Yorkshire’s biggest celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans life.

The College is showing support for the LGBT+ community and promoting equality and diversity in the construction industry.

Leeds College of Building staff and students will take part in the Leeds Pride parade alongside 130 other floats including first direct arena, Asda, Leeds City Council, the Rainbow Digger and many more.

Setting off from Millennium Square at 2.00pm and finishing on Lower Briggate, the parade will consist of the largest number of floats ever seen at Leeds Pride; college participants will be carrying a banner with the slogan ‘Pride in Construction.’

Speaking about the significant contributions to construction and the built environment that LGBT staff and students are making, a college spokesperson said:

“Our staff and students will march in the parade and show that the construction industry and Leeds College of Building welcomes and values LGBT staff and students.

“Our aim is to show that there is a fantastically diversity workforce in the modern construction industry of 2019.  We will continue to challenge old-fashioned stereotypes and show that diverse staff work better for the UK construction industry.”
