Leeds College of Building once again took part in Leeds Pride on 7 August, Yorkshire’s biggest celebration of LGBTQ+ life.
The College is passionate about promoting equality and diversity in the construction industry and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
Leeds College of Building staff and students took part in the Leeds Pride parade alongside dozens of other floats and walking groups including Sainsbury's, Co-op, Nando's, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, RAF, NHS Digital and many more.
Setting off from Millennium Square and finishing on Lower Briggate, College representatives carried a banner with the slogan ‘Pride in Construction.’
Speaking about the significant contributions to construction and the built environment that LGBTQ+ staff and students are making, a Leeds College of Building spokesperson said:
“Our staff and students marched in the parade and showed that the construction industry and Leeds College of Building welcomes and values LGBTQ+ staff and students."
“Our aim is to show that there is a fantastically diversity workforce in the modern construction industry of 2022. We will continue to challenge stereotypes and show that diverse staff work better for the UK construction industry.”
