Staff and students from the College attended the launch of the brand new skills initiative on-site at Kirkstall Forge called the Forging Futures Campus.
This is a pioneering new skills campus delivered in collaboration with Leeds College of Building (LCB), CEG, Wates, Leeds City Council and BARCA.
The campus will offer young people and people from the local area the opportunity to get hands on experience and mentoring from contractors on site.
In addition, LCB students will be taking part in a number of site visits and some will be given the opportunity to gain invaluable work experience on a live project, our brickwork students are currently on-site building a garage and utility.
The launch event was well attended, with Jon Kenny representing CEG, Andy Wates - Group Services Director, Wates, Ian Billyard – Principal, Leeds College of Building, Cllr Mohammed Rafique, Executive Member for Employment, Enterprise and Opportunity, Leeds City Council all speaking at the event. Delegates from the Department for International Trade, Vice Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University and soon-to-be tenants Zenith were also at the event.
In anticipation of the initiative launch, CEG produced a video with Trinity Vision, part of Leeds Trinity University.
