Leeds College of Building student Isobel Moorhouse, currently working as an apprentice at Yorkshire Housing has fought off stiff competition to make the final shortlist for the Yorkshire and Humber regional apprenticeship awards. Isobel has made the shortlist in the advanced apprenticeship category.

Hosted by the National Apprenticeship Service, the awards recognise apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces. They provide businesses and individuals with a platform to showcase how apprenticeships have made a real difference to their organisation and their careers.

Isobel joined Yorkshire Housing in 2015 as an apprentice surveyor and in May 2018 completed the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Property Maintenance Surveying, achieving 100% distinctions for elements of her surveying qualifications. During her apprenticeship, Isobel carved a niche for herself as an invaluable member of the repairs investment team. She is also a member of the young ambassador network.

Isobel said:

I feel very privileged and shocked to have been shortlisted for this award. I’m really pleased as getting to the finals is very exciting and I really look forward to finding out who the winner is!

Kiran Olak, Yorkshire Housing’s Senior People Development Coordinator, said:

Isobel is a real credit to Yorkshire Housing and has really gone above and beyond to champion apprenticeships. I am very proud that her great work has been recognised and she has been shortlisted for this prestigious award, acting as one of the great ambassadors for apprenticeships.

The Regional Ceremony will be held on September 26 at the Marriott Hotel in Leeds where the winner will be announced.
