Become a Structural Engineer
Structural Engineers design structures such as sports venues, houses, hospitals and office blocks. They ensure buildings are designed to withstand pressures such as human usage and weather, so that they don’t collapse, vibrate or bend. They have excellent knowledge of materials to ensure they select the appropriate materials for each project. They work alongside the architects and advise contractors when the building work has started.

There are a number of ways you can become a Structural Engineer, as a minimum you will need 4 or more GCSEs grades A-C (9-4) and a minimum of 2 A Levels or BTEC equivalent.
Level 3
You can study a BTEC Subsidiary or Extended Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment or Civil Engineering or an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering.
Level 4, 5 & 6
You can study a HNC, HND, Higher Apprenticeship or Degree in Construction and the Built Environment, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering other related subjects.
Newly trained structural engineers can earn £19,000 - £25,000
Trained structural engineers with some experience can earn £25,000 - £45,000
Senior, chartered or master structural engineers can earn £45,000 - £55,000
